My lessons are planned and adapted to the students needs and learning style. I do not believe in just memorising content for exams and want my students to understand the subject (and hopefully enjoy it!). I take a patient approach with students, aiming to build confidence and independence in their understanding of science. My lessons will be online due to COVID-19, I will be looking to teach from my own home at a later date.
I would like the student to message me with any topics that they want to go over a few days before our lesson so I can ensure I have the appropriate materials to help them or I will prepare learning material to go through, usually a mix of theory and practice questions. After a few weeks I'd like the student to do a test so that the both of us can review what you have learnt and identify if there are any areas that need more focus.
I can also also tailor the tutoring to encompass exam strategies and techniques for specific exam boards.
Hi, I'm Kristi. I'm currently a PhD researcher in Genetics at the University of Leicester and I have an extensive academic background in biology. I am looking to tutor GCSE all three sciences and A level Biology students.
I have previous experience in higher education mentoring and GCSE science tuition. I tutor GCSE science, including all 3 sciences. I have experience with SEN students and have access to resources aimed for at SEN students.
I have demonstrated and supported students in both laboratory and classroom based practicals including:
- Statistics (first year undergrads)
- Evolution and adaptation (1st year undergrads)
- Animal behaviour and neuroscience (2nd year undergrads)
- Arthropod Field work (3rd year undergrads)
Taught on genetics outreach work with KS3 students
Mentored 1:1 masters and undergraduate students
I am a student leader at the university and have undertaken a course aimed at facilitating 1st year students' independent learning and help them settle into university and maximise their study skills.
- Gained external training in best ways to maximise study methods as well as engage small groups
- Lead sessions of 10-15 students and ran activities to support their learning
If you cancel a lesson with less than 24 hours notice I will still need to charge for the lesson as this is lost planning and teaching time.

Kristi is a brilliant scientist with a specialism in biology, who is also highly skilled at conveying complex scientific concepts in ways that can be easily understood. Kristi's aptitude for science communication makes her an excellent tutor for students of all ages who want to further their understanding of science.
I’ve worked along side Kristi during our Masters, she is both a brilliant scientist and teacher. Kristi is absolutely gifted in explaining scientific concepts to any individuals and I have experienced this personally many times. She is very patient and explains things in a simple but fun way.
