About Dora
I wasn’t always a top-scoring student. Just a year before my GCSEs, I was struggling — I had a Grade 4 in English Literature and a Grade 5 in English Language. With focus, the right methods, and consistent practice, I managed to improve to a Grade 9 in Literature and a Grade 8 in Language within a year. This showed me it’s never too late to improve, and that the right exam techniques really can make all the difference. Alongside this, I achieved Grade 9s in Maths and History, scoring full marks in my Anglo-Saxon and Cold War History papers. These subjects are now my strongest areas, and I’ve developed clear, reliable methods for problem-solving in Maths and exam-writing in History. Because I’ve been through the journey of struggling, improving, and finally excelling, I know how to explain things in a way that makes sense to students who feel stuck. If I could go from low grades to top marks, I believe my students can too — and I want to share the methods that helped me achieve those results.

My Approach to Tutoring I specialise in Maths and History (Edexcel) for GCSE students (Years 10–11). My lessons are typically one hour long and designed to be focused, supportive, and exam-driven. For Maths, I use a one-to-one explaining approach, targeting each student’s weaknesses directly. I help with their homework and schoolwork, go through confusing topics step by step, and build exam confidence through targeted practice and timed questions. I also teach exam techniques that help lower-grade students “play the marks game” and secure the pass they need, as well as methods to push higher-grade students towards top results. For History, I provide model answers to show exactly how to structure exam responses for full marks. I also share concise revision notes (Edexcel Crime & Punishment, Anglo-Saxon & Norman England, Cold War, Nazi Germany) which condense everything students need to know, so revision becomes efficient and focused. Lessons involve practising timed answers, improving writing style, and developing exam strategy. Qualifications/Experience: I recently achieved top grades in my own GCSEs: Grade 9 in Maths, History (full marks in Anglo-Saxon and Cold War paper), English Literature, all three Sciences, French, Religious Education, and Chinese, plus Grade 8 in English Language. Because I have just finished my GCSEs, I understand the exam system inside out and know what works in practice. My lessons are especially suitable for Year 10–11 students preparing for GCSEs, whether aiming for a pass or pushing towards Grade 9.
