I am a creative teacher with a comprehensive and flexible curriculum. I have a good sense of humour too. I teach many styles to all ages and levels. I teach sight-reading, playing by ear (figuring out tunes, improvisation), composing, theory, music history, jazz, and prepare students for exams (if appropriate). My students smile a lot.
I am a Montessori teacher. In basic terms this means that I am very aware of the importance of following the student's interest and her sense of discovery. At the same time I offer a comprehensive and systematic curriculum.

I have been teaching for about 17 years! Many of my students have made music an integral part of their lives. Many have done well in exams, in concerts that I arranged, and some went on to study music at degree level and made careers in music.

Jonathan has taught the piano to our son since the beginning when he was 7 years old. He has managed to nudge our son into loving piano music and making him own the instrument with all its potentialities rather than the all-too-often rot learning seen in many instances. Myself an amateur musician, this has been a pleasure to see my son develop his taste for music and piano playing and discover that classical music is a living art.
Two of my children (aged 9 and 6) learn singing and piano with Jonathan. My oldest has had lessons with him for nearly 4 years. They both very much enjoy their lessons and are progressing well. Jonathan has a wonderful manner with them, makes the lessons fun - particularly important for the younger children - and motivates them. He also communicates well with me re their progress and his plans for them. I would wholeheartedly recommend Jonathan.
