About Birgit
Offering personalised Yoga classes since 2007
Certified to teach since 2012
I often work with students who otherwise would not participate in a yoga class, due to confidence, health or time restrictions. Current students range in age from about 30 - 73, with a range of health issues, physical limitations or time restrictions.
I have studied Thai Massage since 2011, applying some of my massage experience to my yoga classes as suitable to the specific student. (In the case of sciatica for example I may work with targeted point pressure to help sooth sciatic pain and help direct the body to healing itself.)
I have practiced Yoga with teachers in the UK, India and California, bringing with me to class what they taught me.
My approach is patient, friendly and welcoming with a focus on that sometimes it is best t push you and other times to encourage you to listen within and not push yourself too much. What I recommend will depend entirely on what I perceive in the individual yoga student.

If right now you feel like a weak noodle, don't worry this isn't a bootcamp, we will work within your range of abilities to nudge you towards an incrementally more resilient self.
At the moment I am in California but I can meet you online, I know it's not the same, but I hope you'll bear with me and book classes instead of waiting for my return in a few months.
I understand the challenges of not feeling confident in your body during yoga practice. I have personally experienced injuries that taught me the importance of humility and empathy. I am here to support you and help you regain confidence in your body. When our bodies are stronger life feels better.
I now have a lot of compassion for yoga students who don't feel confident in their bodies. Due to personal life circumstances, I had stopped my own yoga practice and discovered firsthand how losing muscle affected my overall well-being.
In class we will make shapes with our bodies and I may direct your attention in ways that will help you be more present with yourself. We will take care of injuries* and make adjustments as needed. We will set your goals together, because some students need to calm down their nervous system, while others need to find their strength again.
This class will be your class.

*I am not a healthcare professional. Taking care of injuries in this context means that we will work gently and avoid aggravating chronic health issues. Our goal will be to build strength that in time will help you overcome or better live with your injuries.

These are private yoga classes at 1/2 my usual in=person fee. I hope you can take the opportunity to join me.
These Yoga Lessons take place exclusively on Skype. Please download it onto your computer before our first class and test that you can make and join a video call before our first class.

When to book and how to book.
Just send me a message and I will send you my online calendar where you will be able to check what times are available in any given week. You can then go ahead and schedule your time and payment can take place through PayPal (my preference) or directly through my booking calendar, using a bank card, if that works better for you.
p.s. don't have a Yoga mat yet? It's ok, you can book your first lesson, we'll adapt your class and make it work without a yoga mat. You can then get a yoga mat before our second class. I can give you some suggestions if you need them.
