I aim to keep language learning both fun and useful. Many of the language textbooks teach German in a way that would be unnatural day to day, and so I teach according to what is practical and what is natural. I also tailor to the needs and interests of every student, and will continue to do this for every lesson as undoubtedly, points will come up that require extra time the following week. It is important to adapt to and nurture each person’s way of learning.
I moved to Germany in my early 20s with no prior knowledge of the language and after studying Fine Art at the Academy of Fine Art in Dresden full time for 6 years, I graduated with full marks across the board and will a BA and MA. All my exams and classes were in German. It is for this reason that I understand first hand the struggles and pitfalls of learning a new language, because I went through them myself! I also taught English in German for a class of 20 students, aged 18-65, over an intensive six month period, taking them from absolute beginners to ALevel standard, and I have also taught conversational German for GCSE and ALevel and one to one German for absolute beginners.
