Beyond my Year Abroad in university, I was teaching young children basic Maths and German. It gave me several teaching and learning skills such as reflective listening, making effective eye contact with children, and using different learning approaches are being used in my teaching. I learned that every student has learning pathways, which was challenging for me realise that a student can either be a slow or a fast learner, depending on their individual ability. I always ensured to keep my student feel supportive throughout the session as that can help student become motivated when learning. Whilst teaching, I set different tasks for them to engage with their learning, for example asking them to revise what they have learned in the last lesson, to see whether they have learned or looked back at their notes. In doing so, students will be aware of what the teacher has expected them to do and get into habit of looking back at previous notes to memorise them.
I am post-student from university. I have been teaching students GCSE German, preparing them for exams. I can also teach students aged 11-18. I also have experience in tutoring young children, during my stay in Germany. I had taught Maths and German, helping children with their homework and teaching them difficult topics. Further to this, I have carried out school experiences at secondary schools; aged 11-16 to gain teaching experience.
