About Finlay
Hi - my name's Fin, I'm currently on a gap year and I'm looking to help tutor in my spare time. I can do practically any evening of a weekday / all day Sunday.
I've been giving tutoring sessions for the past two years; I acted as a key role in Maths help at my school and can also help with French.
As a young person, I'm able to provide a sense of relatability that encourages motivation in a student. I was in their position not too long ago; I know what they're up against; I know how to explain things in a way they'd understand. All of my students have gone away having had improved their grades after only a few sessions.

My teaching method is to simplify things as much as possible. No lengthy, over-wordy explanations means little to no confusion.
I tend to structure lessons by attacking key topics, and building strong, structurally sound foundations to knowledge. Understanding builds easily this way: if you can first grasp a simple concept, you can more than definitely develop it quickly. I'm good at identifying the stumbling blocks in comprehension; once these are found, we can quickly work together to make your ability flourish.
I'd describe myself as friendly, calming, motivational and attentive. I genuinely care for all of my students - if they aren't doing well on something, I'll be the calm motivator who helps explain things a million ways until they understand. I want them to achieve their best.
