About Alice
I graduated from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania with a B.A. in French literature and before that a Baccalauréat from the French government while I was studying at the Lycée Français de New York (high school). I am not only bilingual (English/French) but also proficient in Russian and Spanish which I learned while working at the United Nations. I organized and taught English as a second language in a Meet Up. I also tutored English one on one to a young Korean lady, correcting her pronunciation, spelling, and grammar, and building her vocabulary. We are still in touch. I love teaching as I think it is very important to impart knowledge to the next generation, and languages are important for the student to adapt to a new culture and fit in.

I share primarily through conversation and correction of writing assignments. Vocabulary consists of idioms, word families with etymologies, crossword puzzles for fun, and explaining my theory that there are three levels of English words, easy, common or standard, and high level or fancy, with examples. At every opportunity I will ask the students questions, to see if they know the words, and repeat all the ones they don't know at the next lesson. We will in separate lessons work on conjugations and prepositions, the different parts of speech. The very first thing I will have my student do is introduce him or herself with a lengthy description to which I will ask questions, as i will present myself. Then I will explain what I intend to do in the course and ask what the student would like to focus on., subject matter as well as grammatical content. I will use articles in the field suggested.
