About Cecilia
Hello, this is Cecilia or Ying. I was born and raised in Shanxi Province, where coal, vinegar and ancient architecture are very famous. I graduated from East China Normal University with a Master of Art Degree in English Language Literature in 2017. I lived in Shanghai from 2014 to 2023. Now i am travelling in America.
Currently I am an online Chinese teacher. I am patient, and target-oriented. I like reading books, literature, fantasy, sci-fi, social studies, biographies. I read what I like in any genre. I also enjoy dancing a lot. I am learning modern dance. And i am also a language learner myself. I am learning Spanish now. I like cooking Chinese food as well.

As a language learner myself (English and Spanish), i feel for what learners when they study Chinese.To learn language is not just about the language itself, but also the culture behind it.With the understanding for both Chinese culture and English culture, i can predict the obstacles and questions you might have in learning Chinese, and help you to understand the cultural differences.
(1)Students are always the center of the class. Practices will be designed based on the materials we learnt and we will learn.Tools, games, and songs will also be introduced to make the class more accessible. Reading materials which suit your level will also be shared with you each class.
(2)One typical lesson plan of my usually include 4 parts: 1) small talk (5 mins); 2) warmup (10mins); 3) homework checking&reviewing (15 mins);4) new materials (25-30mins).End game and reading will be arranged if time allows.
(3)As a tutor, i am very patient and compassionate, because i know how language can change a people's life (English changed my life). I know what learners might struggle with. And i know my boundary as a professional tutor.
(4)I am very good at teaching preschool kids, k12, adult beginners, and high-level learners Chinese.Basically, when you have needs to study Chinese, i can help to design individualized lesson for you.
