About Sam
I love teaching because I am able to see the journey all of my students are going to be taking. I love instilling my knowledge of the western Classical tradition and of the double bass in all of its contexts.
I look forward to seeing my students progressing week by week and learning more and more difficult and expressive repertoire.
Every day that I teach, I learn something new about teaching or about music and even about my own instrument.

I currently hold a teaching position with the Sutton Music Trust, London UK as a Double Bass Tutor.
My lessons are typically 60 minutes long, so that there is enough time to discuss what we are learning.
Student progression is really important to me because every person is different and learns at different rates. Therefore, needing different approaches. Catering to what their ambition is exactly how my lessons are done.
Learning to play in a safe, injury-free way is of utmost importance to me. This is due to the fact that the Double Bass is such a big instrument and needs careful thought for the way it should be played.
