I believe that everyone has a different learning speed, and that the first step to learning is to memorize through exercises. I like to go over the lesson first, read it together and go over any questions that the student might have. I like to then focus a lot of the time on a variety of exercises to apply the lesson and if any mistakes are made, understand where they come from and go back to the lesson if needed.
