My approach to tutoring will be tailored to each student; however, there are a few methods and techniques I stick to. For example, the I-We-You method. First, I will do it so the student can see how it's done. Then we will do an example together. Then they will do it on their own, and I will check their work and provide feedback. In my years of teaching, I've found this to be the most effective technique.
Most of my years of teaching were spent with middle school, but I have taught ages 4-18 and am comfortable with students of all ages.
