About Helen
I have been giving lessons to four GCSE students since January 2017. In total I have been tutoring for approximately 50 hours. While none of my tutees are yet to take their exams, I believe that their mathematical reasoning has improved as well as their homework grades.

I try to keep my lessons fairly flexible so they can be tailored to the students particular learning style. Although in general I begin each lesson by going over any homework which I had set the week before, I find this helps me to get a good idea of what my students can do on their own. I tend to try to theme most lessons on a particular area which I'll decide with the pupil based on what they find difficult, what they're covering in school at the moment and if anything comes up when we're doing a past paper. I use question books and past exam papers to help the student get used to using particular mathematical techniques and also to help them move onto harder questions. I find that using past exam papers helps the student to develop their own exam technique and to become familiar with exam-style questions.
