About Joe
I am passionate about teaching. When I was at school I found it difficult to engage in certain subjects. Even if I enjoyed them. However, since graduating university I have been able to explore a wide range of different subjects and I've found how much all of them are linked; how something you learn in English suddenly has a lot of importance to Philosophy or Physics.
It's this wider understanding that hooked me and made me want to continue to learn. Instilling this curiousity in students is the key to making sure they actually understand and learn a subject, rather than simply regurgatating facts for an exam.

My teaching ideology is about engaging the student in what interests them. From personal experience I'm well aware that not all subjects interest everyone. My principal goal is to show that in whatever subject we are learning, there is something to be enjoyed for everyone. Either bringing in real world examples or something that strikes a chord with the student.
I have experience tutoring A-Level Maths and Physics, as well a English teaching experience in Spain. I prefer my lessons to last between 30 minutes and an hour. Longer than that and I find that our brains often disengage with subject matter.
