About Sam
I've been working as a doctor for over a decade. Most of my training has taken place in Ireland (Dublin), and I have moved to the United Kingdom since 2022 to further pursue my training. I am currently in the process of completing my application to the higher specialist register to consultant level. I have learned a lot over the years, and dealt with a lot of challenging cases in my specialty area of medical oncology. Medical oncology piqued my interest given it involves so many elements of general medicine and surgery, but also feels uniquely niche in its challenges and rapidly evolving treatment paradigms. I have opted to look into online tutoring which I have much previous experience with (particularly since the COVID-19 pandemic). Though I can offer in-person tutoring sessions for a slightly higher fee and depending on my availability. I have particular experience with remediation programmes for medical students who have previously failed examinations from my previous work as a clinical tutor. I am currently working in the private sector, which offers fewer opportunities to provide teaching in-person to students compared to my previous public-sector and formal teaching work. Despite this, I like to take any opportunity to learn in my job, and teach.

• One-to-one tutoring in general medicine & surgery; history taking, clinical examination, examination questions/multiple choice. • Any level catered to, though recommend final year / penultimate year of medical school (undergraduate). • Structured, free-form or remediation tutorials; depending on needs. • Working on confidence during examination / acting techniques, thought processes (thinking on one's feet), how to phrase questions to patients and histories to examiners, avoiding pitfalls in common examination scenarios, when to realise limitations for more challenging clinical cases, focus on general principles of good clinical practice (ethical dilemmas) and more.
