About Emily
I’m a passionate and enthusiastic musician and qualified primary school teacher with a lifelong love of music. I come from a musical family and music has always been a huge part of my life. I love sharing that enjoyment with others and seeing students grow in confidence as they develop their skills.
I’ve been playing and teaching music from a young age and went on to study Music at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, completing a BMus (Hons). I now work as a primary school teacher and Music Lead, where I have the opportunity to inspire children through lessons, choirs and music groups every day.
I particularly enjoy teaching children because I love seeing that moment when something suddenly clicks for them. I want my students to feel that music is something they can enjoy and be proud of, rather than something they have to be nervous about or pressured into.
I offer a friendly, patient and encouraging approach and always try to make lessons enjoyable while helping students make real progress. Whether someone is taking their first steps with an instrument, working towards an exam or simply wants to play music they enjoy, I want them to leave each lesson feeling positive and excited to keep playing.

I believe music lessons should be fun, engaging and tailored to each individual student. I adapt my teaching to suit their age, ability, interests and goals, whether they are learning for enjoyment, building confidence or working towards graded examinations.
Lessons focus on developing secure technique and a strong understanding of music, with music theory, sight-reading and aural skills included where appropriate. I also offer the option of working towards grades for students who would like to take this route.
I recommend 30-minute lessons for most primary-aged children, with 45–60 minutes generally suited to older children and adults, although this can be adapted depending on the individual student’s concentration and needs.
I have been tutoring since I was 16, teaching flute, piano, violin and saxophone, and have supported many students through examinations with a 100% pass rate. I hold Grade 8 Flute, two performance diplomas and a BMus (Hons) in Music from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, where I studied under professional musicians. I also hold Grade 7 Violin, Grade 5 Piano and Grade 5 Alto Saxophone.
I am currently a qualified primary school teacher and Music Lead, where I run music groups and choirs alongside teaching music across the school. I particularly enjoy working with primary-aged children and beginners, but also welcome older children and adults.
