About Jonathan
Hi, I'm Jonathan!
I'm a professional drummer and recent graduate of Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, based in South East London.
Having begun playing the drums from the age of 4, I've spent many years both studying and performing all kinds of music, ultimately discovering a keen interest in jazz and improvised music.
Throughout this journey I've gained a wealth of knowledge from the great teachers I've been fortunate enough to study with as well as vital experience that only live performance situations can teach - all of which I'd love to share with you!

My approach to teaching is flexible depending on the individual needs of each student but always encourages the development of correct technique, getting a good sound from the instrument and being a musical drummer!
I can get new drummers up and running with their first beats, take students through a variety of material and musical styles to make them into well rounded players or lessons can be guided by the student if there are particular areas of study they are interested in (i.e. reading music, learning drum parts to songs).
Having been performing regularly for over 10 years in professional environments, I have also gained teaching experience in 1-1 lessons - teaching students both informally and formally in the last 2 years.
I'm an active gigging musician, passionate about the instrument and always looking to improve my own skills as both a player and teacher which I believe translates into better lessons for my students.
Lessons are taught in a relaxed but focused manner to get the most out of each lesson and range from 30 mins to 1 hour in length.
