About Augusto
Graduated in History Degree (2017) and Bachelor's Degree (2020) at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, he is a specialist in Teaching of Higher and Technical Education, by Faculdades QI (2019/2). Master's Degree in History (2021), from the Federal University of Santa Maria, in the Fronteira, Politics and Society research line, taking a Master's degree in History from the State University of Maringá, in the Political History research line. Member of the research group Virtù Medieval and Renaissance History, Research on the formation of the representation of the Muslim and the Islamic religion as the great evil that attacks the West, focusing on the medieval and modern period, from the territories of Al-Andalus. He works with the speeches of authors such as São Eulógio de Córdoba (? ? 857), Paulo Álvaro (800 ? 861), Ambrósio de Morales (1513 ? 1591) and Luís del Marmol Carvajal (1520 ? 1600); with his researches, he tries to understand the uses of the past, regarding the use of the imaginary built on Islam, for modern states ? reflecting on the need to update the understanding regarding the Other. At the same time, it is starting a research on the ways in which the Muslim past was erased, adapted and diminished within the construction of a Spanish national history. In 2020, he worked in a jobshadowing at The David and Barbara Pryor Center for Arkansas Oral and Visual History, linked to the University of Arkansas (USA), through an exchange program promoted by Rotary International. Which led to the interest and work related to the history of the present time, developing researches regarding the history of the United States, focusing on civil movements and on the fight for the breaking of segregation policies, as well as the maintenance of such structures, even if not bound by current legislation. Since 2009, he has been part of District 4670 of Rotary International, now associated with the Rotaract and Rotary Club of Porto Alegre São João.

The organization of my classes is based on a mixture of trying to enrich vocabulary, as well as practices and forms of conversation. I think that a dialogue, little by little and calmly, ends up by overcoming the barriers that "the foreign language" brings in many moments.
