About Henry
Born in Hong Kong, I began learning trumpet at age 9 under Kelvin Ngai and Adam Luftman, and was awarded a Bachelor's degree in classical trumpet at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, studied with Paul Beniston, Anne McAneney, and Will O’Sullivan. I am now in pursuit of Master of Music in Performance studies in Royal College of Music, learning along with Niall Keatley, Christian Barraclough, Kate Moore, Jason Evans and many more.
I have extensive performance history in Australia, America, Germany and many more countries. I have played in the Guildhall Symphony Orchestra, Royal College of Music Symphony Orchestra, Guildhall Wind Orchestra, Silk Street Sinfonietta, Ponte London Orchestra, Hong Kong Youth Orchestra (Maestro Art School of Music) and many more. Performed in esteemed venues such as the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall, Gewandhaus concert hall, Barbican Hall, and St John Smith Square, collaborated with maestros such as Ryan Bancroft, Roberto Gonzalez-Monjas, James MacMillan, Marius Stravinsky and more.
Beyond playing the trumpet, I developed an interest in conducting, starting with the choir and chamber orchestra at St Stephen's College. Recently, he founded the Balfour Wind Ensemble and made his conducting debut. Recently, I led the Hong Kong Youth Philharmonia, premiering the new music “Dreaming of Butterfly” by Nok Him Chan and collaborated with pianist KaJeng Wong in Grieg’s Piano Concerto. I am currently expanding his conducting skills under the mentorship of David Corkhill and Tim Redmond.
I am a firm believer that anyone can learn an instrument well and happy. It is all about music making, along with the guarantee that you can improve and enjoy in a long way. No matter it is classical, pop, jazz or even just a simple birthday tune, you will be able to perform in front of people with confidence and pride!

I tackle techniques with fun, engaging, almost clinical ways with tools, to improve your music playing and fundamental practice. Lesson's hour varies from 45min to an hour. I taught kids back in my hometown with the same learning experience! Other than English, I can also teach in Mandarin or Cantonese.
