About Robert
I graduated with a specialized chemistry degree, have worked in R&D for 10 years and have innovated and formulated many products for several companies. I have taken my knowledge of chemistry beyond the classroom and have applied it to the real world. This gives me an advantage, because I know best what it's like to go from learning to creating. I'm confident in my ability to use chemistry, but I take a humble approach to teaching other people. Not everyone learns the same, and I want to make sure the subject material is being understood, rather than memorized.

I use metaphors and analogies a lot when it comes to explaining science, to both new and experienced people in the sciences. I appreciated when professors and teachers would expand the understanding past the subject. Oddly enough, I use baking and cooking when trying to get a concept understood. It can relate to everyone, and some people do better with this approach. It's a combination of facts vs. fiction, conceptual understanding, and a patient and open approach to cater to everyone's learning style. I like to do a quick covering of the material so we can establish the strengths and weaknesses of the material. This allows me to choose the approach that I think will reach the tutee most effectively. I don't know what sets me apart from other tutors, but based on my own experience and seeing what worked with me, I feel like I can put in more effort past the "job" part. I nerd out about science and I would love to share that.
