About Caitlyn
I earned a degree in English from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. I then taught 8th grade ELA (writing and grammar) at Carl Albert Middle School for two years. While at Carl Albert, I encouraged student participation by creating interactive writing activities that allowed them to collaborate as a class, and I encouraged students to step outside their comfort zones by entering their class essays into local writing contests. I was able to aid students in their writings, and I had a few students go on to win a Martin Luther King Jr. essay contest and one student get a poem published.
Currently, I am a law student at Oklahoma City University School of Law, and I received the CALI Award in my Legal Research and Writing I class.

When it comes to grammar, essay writing, and creative writing, I love to create interactive lessons that encourage students to engage with the material and gain a better understanding before doing it on their own. For instance, when learning about body paragraph structure, I review topic sentences, concrete details, commentary, and concluding sentences with students before giving them a broken-up paragraph and having them put it together like a puzzle. They will then go on to build their own body paragraph!
