About Christian

I began playing squash at the age of 14 at school and fell in love with the game! I continued playing the sport throughout school and excelled quickly. After school I moved to St. Andrews, Scotland to attend university where I continued to play squash and I received my bachelor's degree in Psychology in 2018. In 2023, I attained my England Squash coaching certificate and began to teach privately. I have since taught over 100+ hours of lessons and have over 75 clients.

My number one priority is making sure my clients get what they are looking for out of their lessons with me. The first thing I will ask you is "What are your goals in taking squash lessons?" This way I can better understand what you would like to get out of the lessons. Your answer could be: to learn something new, get in shape, improve my ability, or, just have fun. Our lesson plans will be tailored based on your answer. The most important thing is that YOU get what you want out of our time together! I can teach individual lessons and groups of all ages and abilities and I have been officially certified by England Squash. I am currently pursuing my England Squash Level 2 qualification.

Find out more about Christian

  • 1) What age did you start playing sport? Tell us about this time or moment in your life.

I started playing squash when I was 14 years old. Before Squash I played Basketball as my winter sport at school but I was not really in love with it. I knew that I would continue Soccer in the Fall and Baseball in the spring but I was not sure about continuing with Basketball. Some of my friends played squash growing up so I had heard about it but I had never played myself. When I arrived to high school and saw other students playing I immediately knew that's what I wanted to do. I picked it up, loved it and never looked back.
  • 2) What are your favourite sports; those that you practice at a high level, a simple hobby, and a sport that you'd still like to discover?

My favourite sports would include snow skiing, tennis, football (soccer), baseball and of course squash. Those are the sports I am best at. I have not played football (soccer) or, baseball in a long time although I would love to pick them up again. I'd like to learn how to surf next.
  • 3) What gives you the motivation and passion to pursue your sport?

I have motivation and passion to continue to play sport because I love the way I feel after a good session, it's social and a challenge. I believe sports can teach you many good and useful skills and habits that you can apply to other aspects of your life too like discipline, practice, patience, how to win and how to lose with grace and the value of persistence. I always feel there is the opportunity to improve in sport and I think that is an important mentality to have in life too. Watching professional sportsmen play also motivates me. What it means to them and the dedication and discipline they exemplify inspires
me to continue to play and improve.
  • 4) Do you have a sporting achievement that you're particularly proud of?

I would say being the captain of my team at school is something I am particularly proud of because I started playing squash having never picked up a racquet but through dedication and passion for the sport I was able to rise through the ranks and lead my team.
  • 5) How have your achievements and challenges made you a better sportsperson?

At the beginning of my years playing squash I had a lot of success as I was able to improve quickly but eventually I was no longer the best and faced a lot of defeat. Those setbacks test your resolve and force you to improve and make getting to the next level even sweeter. I learned a lot about myself as a person and how to overcome difficulty times in life as well through those challenges.
  • 6) If you had to go for a jog with a famous athlete, who would you choose? And what questions would you ask them?

Sebastien Vettel and ask him how it feels to drive a formula 1 car around the track, most importantly the Ferrari and then ask him what he sacrificed to be a professional athlete and whether he would do it again if he could.
  • 7) How do you help people stay motivated?

There are so many ways the motivate people - it's all about finding out what motivates them and reminding them every time their not able to do it themselves. In general I like to bring excitement and engagement to my sessions. I find that is a good starting point for each session. To engage and instruct with purpose so that people understand what they should be doing but almost more importantly, why they should be doing it.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof in sports?

My positive energy, sense of humour, engagement style, personable nature, creativity, knowledge and sense of purpose make me a SuperProf.
