About Adam
Originally from Scotland, I have been working as a professional trombonist for 10 years, and moved to London to study at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music & Drama.
My work has been extremely varied across many musical genres. I have lots of experience in theatre, having worked in London's West End for 4 years, as well as freelancing with many of the UK's top professional orchestras (Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Opera House, Philharmonia etc.). I have also played on multiple film/TV soundtracks, and toured over the world with many early music ensembles.

My approach as a teacher varies widely, as I tailor my teaching to suit the needs of the pupil. I aim to offer a holistic musical education, without letting technical issues creep in and interfere with playing.
I play a lot in lessons and believe in the benefits of playing together, through duets and warm-up exercises.
I teach all ages and stages, with a large amount of experience in both school settings and private tuition.
I have been teaching alongside a professional performing career for over 5 years, and working as a performing musician for 10. I strongly believe that active performers should bring their experience and personal drive for improvement to their pupils and let them experience the same thrill it provides.
Lessons are typically between 30 minutes and one hour, depending on the pupil and our mutual availability, and is always open to change.

Perfect! I am new to brass and have found that Adam has had excellent advice in getting me started (e.g. how to get water out of my instrument, basic exercises to start building up the right embouchure, etc). He's also very approachable and responded quickly to my initial inquiry.
I am looking forward to continuing to work with him.- Adam's response :

Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
Adam is very enthusiastic when it comes to teaching. His teaching methods are brilliant, working on all aspects of technique and sound and providing the skills and lip exercises to improve . His knowledge of repertoire is vast allowing for fun and enjoyable lessons playing a range of music. Adam is a great teacher if you are just starting out on any brass instrument, or looking for some high level teaching!
I have been taught privately by Adam for many years and I have learnt a tremendous amount. In addition to being a fantastic teacher, he is also a very kind person, and takes time to make sure that the lessons are all-encompassing, and not simply a 'right' and 'wrong' scenario.
Having played professionally with Adam in a wide variety of settings from orchestral work and chamber ensembles to early music, I can confidently recommend him as a highly experienced musician. Knowing Adam personally, I can attest to his genuine nature as well as his care and thoughtfulness with students.
