About Michael
Holding a Bachelor of Music in Contemporary Music Performance from Berklee College of Music, I work from my Seattle studio. Teaching guitar for 6 years has helped me refine a method that prioritizes clean technique and song mastery. I focus on rock, blues, and modern styles ranging from Hendrix to John Mayer. My pedagogy leans into the jazz fusion sounds of Holdsworth, Metheny, and Scofield.
Students explore power chords, barre chords, and complex electric technique through rigorous study. We spend time on music theory, reading tabs, and maintaining instruments properly. Learning how to solo and write songs is part of the process for every student.
Improvisation remains a core pillar of my instructional style. I strive to keep the work honest and direct while maintaining a clear perspective on why music works.

Many players struggle because they ignore the mechanics of how songs actually function. You can practice for hours without moving forward if you simply repeat patterns without understanding the underlying logic of the fretboard. I provide custom backing tracks so students can practice soloing at home with professional support.
These backing tracks bridge the gap between theory and actual performance on the guitar. My degree from Berklee allows me to break down chord transitions and blues progressions into manageable chunks. Feel free to reach out if you want to play through your favorite tracks.
