About Cameron
I'm pretty much just a huge fan of any music I can find. I started by playing drums and later picked up the guitar and the piano.
I mostly got into music listening to Bowie, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, and Lou Reed. Later, as I started playing more, I began to listen to a lot of Jazz — with Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus, Bill Evans and Brad Mehldau as some of my favourites (also guitarists like Bill Frisell and Lenny Breau) — but really I just love great songwriters (Elliott Smith).
I took piano lessons when I was really young but I gave up because I never practiced, when I came back to playing it was only because I loved listening to music and I only ever played songs I listened to. Learning the piano alongside the guitar was one of the most useful things I've done for my playing and I'd be happy to use the piano in our lessons If you're interested.
I started teaching just by giving some friends a few lessons and realised that I really enjoyed that as well.

We’ll start learning enough common chords to begin reading chord charts and playing songs.
My favourite way to learn is by playing songs I love, hopefully I can teach you using songs that you enjoy. The most important thing about playing an instrument is making music that you actually want to listen to. If you think of a song in advance of the lesson please let me know and I'll learn it, if not we can work on songs together in the lessons.
I'm really keen on learning songs by ear and would love to teach how to build chord progressions and songs, this great bit of theory is really useful for learning music by ear.
I'm a fan of chord melody style playing — playing the guitar kind of like a piano with the chords underneath the main melody — and would be happy to show how understanding the fretboard can make this much easier (and make the neck a little less scary).
We will go through all the other useful guitar stuff (like scales, general theory, technique) but never for the sake of it (i'm not really one for grades). I really enjoy teaching piano alongside the guitar (it's very useful for starting to learn theory) so if you're interested in that as well please let me know.
Lessons are for anyone. Learning songs by ear, building chord progressions, and learning how the fretboard works, are all more intermediate concepts but if you're a complete beginner then thats great.

Perfect! What a lovely tutor! Cameron is very kind and patient while teaching. He has such a great skill in guitar. Will surely book for another class with him!
Perfect! Cam is a great tutor and a very friendly person. I really enjoyed the first lesson, where he prepared the songs I said I was practising beforehand, and made me feel more confident about learning guitar.
