Hi! I’m Hannah, and my passion is to open up the world of classical music to others.
Originally from New Zealand, I studied in London and then Paris, where I’ve been lucky enough to be mentored by some of the greatest pianists alive today. Although my background is in performance, I now dedicate myself to teaching full-time - I am the co-founder of the Fitzrovia Academy, which offers tuition in classical piano, cello, guitar, and clarinet.
My objective as a teacher is to put in motion a cycle of inspiration and facilitation. Pupils come to me with goals ranging from passing a diploma exam to learning the latest Ed Sheeran hit. As I help them realise their goals, more and more of the vast and exciting world of the piano is revealed, inspiring pupils to explore new repertoire and conquer new techniques.
On a practical level, I take a holistic approach to teaching, and most of my lessons incorporate elements of keyboard technique, classical history and music theory. I strongly believe that playing the piano can enrich all aspects of our life, as we develop our concentration, co-ordination, general knowledge, and sensitivity.
Every student has a personal motivation for wanting to develop a relationship with the piano - whatever yours is, I’d be delighted to help you!
I have had over six years of intensive teaching experience, working both privately and for establishments such as London Piano Teachers, Sokol Piano Academy (London), the New Zealand School of Music Junior Academy (New Zealand), and Ecole Massillon (Paris).
Although I specialise in one one one teaching, I have also held workshops with groups of children in association with the Phoenix Music Academy and the Kinship Charity.

I started with Hannah as an adult beginner. Hannah got me through grade 1 and 2 in about 6 months. She is always excited and gets great joy from seeing progress, which encourages and motivates. She not only helps develop technique but also encourages musicality. I would highly recommend Hannah as a piano teacher.
I couldn't recommend Hannah more as a teacher. She's extremely kind, empathetic and knowledgeable. She pays very close attention to every detail of her student's playing in order to give lessons specifically tailored to them. She also takes great care in finding ways to help students practice - finding music they like and helping them structure their practice sessions for the most benefit. A great teacher makes so much difference.
Hannah is a fantastic tutor: patient, talented and able to nurture any student, bringing out the best.
She tailors the class to your needs: as an adult I needed to refresh techniques for playing hymns in church. Hannah took me back to basics, taught techniques for working out new hymns and instilled confidence by performing in recitals and covered the necessary theory.
I would highly recommend Hannah.
