About Leona
I have worked for the center for theddevelopmentally disabled for the past summer, as an Equestrian counselor. I mostly worked with kids in 3rd-5th grade, but I can work with both younger and older kids. I've always loved English and I have a passion for helping kids learn to love it too.

Every great writer started off as a great reader. I am well versed in the kid friendly books that would make a lesson fun, and grab kids attention. Kids tend to learn better when you can get them to not think of it as learning- I like to try to make things fun or into a game-especially for the younger kids. For any writing assignments I'd let them pick out a topic to write about the interests them because it's a lot easier to write about things you like. I would also give them time to free write their own stories and get creative. Reading is an excellent way to increase ones vocabulary, however, vocab.com and quizzlet are also great for the words that their teacher gives them to learn.
