About Simone
I have a first degree (Potsdam), teaching qualification (Berlin/Spandau) and MA in Applied Linguistics (Birkbeck) which included a dissertation studying bilingualism in pre-school children. I developed CLIL materials with CILT and trialled Félix und Franzi for the Goethe Institut and have published articles in DLL and teaching materials online with the TES. I have taught at a variety of schools in the UK over the past twenty years.

Learning languages should be fun and should not be a stressful experience. My lessons are dynamic and interactive. Being a native German speaker, I can support your learning through authenticity. Materials published by the Goethe Institut are a common feature in my teaching. The lesson content is clear, purposeful and underpinned by real-life settings. You will have ample opportunity to practise and improve your language skills. Having designed lessons for OAK National Academy during the lockdown periods. This experience highlighted to me the importance of engaging learners through a range of lively activities which also include online tools, for example Flippity, Quizlet, Memrise, Duolingo to name but few. These are, to a certain extent, useful supports but are not a total solution as they often lack the interpersonal exchange of real communication. The practice of your speaking skills on a regular basis will be guaranteed by our tutor-tutee interaction.
The way to enjoy your learning will be enhanced through tailor-made one to one sessions. These can have an emphasis on your confidence with, for example, your listening skills or your grammatical understanding. It may well be that you are finding reading comprehension tasks really tricky or that you might just need some tips and advice on how to tackle a particular exam type question. It is crucial that you feel comfortable in your language skills in order to succeed. I have mentored a great number of students through their language learning at a variety of levels from primary through GCSE to successful Oxbridge entry.
