I am a very syllabus-oriented teacher and do not digress from the syllabus. While I give out-of-the-book knowledge for the explanation of a topic, it remains brief. I also take an exam after the completion of a chapter so that the student does not accumulate any backlog before the exams and has enough time for revision of particular subjects.
