I teach visually and relate concepts in a way students can grasp. And I love effective practice, allowing the student to ask as they explore/practice.
A typical lesson begins with prompts, questions related to a students prior knowledge…what does the student know about this or that. How would the student attempt to solve this problem? Then introduce the concept, showing step by step, typically but not always use a game to enhance both practice and understanding. The lessons are geared towards students who are about to enter in or are currently enrolled in 6th grade.
