About Tarik
I grew up in Canada and have taught mathematics in three countries across three continents, so I am used to students arriving with very different backgrounds and very different starting points.
I began my career as an integration aide, supporting students with severe autism and significant behavioral challenges, and I have since taught IB Higher Level, A Level and AP Pre-Calculus.
What I am really doing in a lesson is looking for the gap. Almost every student who finds math hard has one somewhere behind them that nobody found. I am patient, and I work out how each particular student learns and teach it their way rather than mine, because the explanation that works for one student rarely works for the next.

I have taught mathematics for over twenty years, as Head of Mathematics at three Dubai schools and for an online international school in Spain. I hold a BEd in Mathematics and a Master of Education.
Lessons run sixty or ninety minutes, in person or on Zoom. Students work through problems while I guide rather than rescue, because productive struggle is where the learning happens. We use past papers and mark schemes so students learn what examiners actually reward, and I set additional practice between lessons.
I teach IB Higher and Standard Level, A Level, IGCSE and GCSE, from Year 9 to Year 13.
