I believe that the best way to learn anything new is through interacting, especially new languages. Depending on age, I like to include games and conversations that involve the individual's interests. In my opinion there is nothing more counterproductive than just staring into an open book. Every person needs a different approach, that is why I think is essential to find out what suits the individual the best.
