About Lucy
I am a native English speaker, born and raised in Scotland (United Kingdom). I am a graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Geography from the University of St Andrews, and I am qualified with my Level 5 TEFL Diploma as well. I have a passion for adventuring, I've spent 3 months travelling around America, I've also lived in New Zealand for 2 years, as well as living in Japan for 6 months. These have been amazing experiences for me to learn more about different cultures around the world. With such a huge population of South Americans in New Zealand, here is where I started learning Spanish. I undertook some classes, and paired this with learning from some of my closest friends, and teaching them more English in return. This has also been a great influence in why I got started in teaching English.

First of all, I would like to chat with the students to see what they would like to get out of the lesson(s), whether it is conversation practice, help with cover letters and CVs, or goals with particular skills. By doing this, I can plan the lesson(s) to be most effective for each student. I personally believe the best way to advance and expand vocabulary is orally. Here we can focus on general comprehension, expressions, and fluency together. This is also great for practising pronunciation and tailoring accents. It is very important for me that each lesson is not only useful, but also enjoyable and rewarding.
