About Ixchel
Even though I am in high school, I have some experience helping younger kids. I've worked summer camps for my robotics team for 2 summers. There, I helped guide K-3rd Graders through various STEM activities. I babysit my brother with disabilities frequently. Along with that, I have a lot of practice using both languages. At home, we only speak Spanish, and I often translate things for my mom both in writing and speaking. In school, I will sometimes be asked to help kids who just came into the US and don't know English yet. I am in advanced English and Spanish courses.

My teaching style can vary due to every student needing something different, but overall its always my goal to keep students engaged and having fun. In a lesson, we will learn a set of words (transportation, desserts, etc). Then, we will play a fun game in which they will start connecting the words and putting them into sentences. Instead of just going off of memory, they will learn how to string everything together to be able to converse. As someone who learned English, my second language, very young, I know it can be very intimidating becoming bilingual. However, because I have that experience, I know how to make things easier for kids now! These lessons are for kids who either want a head start on being bilingual, or kids who need help learning English for school.
