About Benedict
During my degree, I have found quantitative and economics modules particularly fascinating, quickly realising that these subjects are far richer and more complex than I had appreciated at A-Level. This has led me to gain professional experience in the finance sector, which further deepened my understanding of the close relationship between economics, maths and finance. Alongside my studies, I have tutored maths and economics for three years, including teaching groups of secondary school students with a leading UK company. This experience significantly enhanced my teaching ability, whilst reinforcing how rewarding and impactful education can be. Many students not only achieved top grades in both subjects, but scored highly in national maths challenges. Ultimately, I enable students to both achieve their academic goals and discover the wider richness of these fascinating subjects.

Lessons are designed to expand and deepen students’ understanding of economics, thereby enabling them to achieve top grades. A strong emphasis is placed on linking concepts to both contemporary and historical case studies - this is often overlooked in traditional classroom teaching. For instance, every economics student draws AD-AS diagrams, but few apply them to events like the Great Depression or the Financial Crisis. My teaching style is highly collaborative: I begin by understanding each student’s current level of knowledge and approach towards the subject. I then build on existing knowledge using case studies and tangible examples tailored to the student.
When teaching A-Level economics, I highlight connections to maths where relevant, ensuring students can confidently tackle the more technical aspects of the subject. For those who are keen, I go beyond the school curriculum and introduce more advanced concepts, drawing on my experience in the field of economics/finance. This not only inspires students to think about their future academic or career paths, but also equips them with the depth of knowledge needed to achieve the very highest marks in their exams.
