I believe the role of a tutor is not only to provide expert advice to students when navigating challenging topics and exam technique, but also to develop their skills as independent learners. On top of covering course content and exam technique in an approachable, engaging and thorough way, I place emphasis on the development of study skills. I invariably find students have underdeveloped study skills and this is often an important driver of underperformance. With this approach I have helped over 40 students to discover their academic potential and interests, to achieve their exam aspirations and to gain knowledge and skillsets essential for university and beyond.
