About Melissa
I gained a degree in Costume Interpretation from Wimbledon School of Art in 1991 and have spent my career of almost 40 years involved in the fashion and creative arts sector. I’ve worked and taught across the disciplines of costume and fashion, shoemaking and fibre-spinning within performing arts including opera, tv, film, fashion and fashion retail.
I am passionate about textile, fashion and accessories and immensely enjoy passing on my technical expertise and experience, especially to beginners and those who may not have the opportunity to commit to a formal or full-time training. I specialise in delivering short courses or bite-size training that allows beginners and improvers to develop their own skills at a pace they feel comfortable with and that fits in with their other commitments and work/life balance.

I specialise in working with individuals or small groups teaching technical skills to beginners and improvers. I tutor across a variety of fashion and textile crafts, in particular shoemaking and also yarn preparation - fibre dyeing, carding, colour blending and wheel spinning for weaving, knitting and crocheting.
