About Laurence
Friendly, highly experienced native French Tutor I am a native French speaker working as translator and face to face interpreter. I also do proofreading in both English and French. I taught English as a first language in France and in Japan, French in UK, l do have extensive experience in teaching both adults and children, (my proudest achievement is home teaching very successfully three of my four children from primary to GCSE levels...I instilled in them the love of reading and the desire to study in an autonomous and enjoyable fashion, hence their A* in French, English) All my GCSE students got a A* (or a 9 last year), very proud of them…I also helped my adult students pass their university exams, and interviews where French was a requirement. I have also made it a speciality to teach adults from scratch or revive their long forgotten knowledge of French. Very satisfying for me to see and enjoy the result, when my students finally start to express themselves...adults might need more conversation skills but as with children, they need good grammar as a base (in both French and English, the key to learning any language) I believe in a flexible approach to suit each student and engaging with their personality, their likes and dislikes, and find a common ground on which we can build a fun and productive tutor/student relationship. So if you like what you are reading, give it a try, I live in Pimlico, central London, I can travel by bike bus and tube. French teacher in London. Depending on your requirements, I will adapt my methods and the books I use, you may be a total beginner or intermediate, working towards exam or simply rekindling long lost French, I have extensive experience in all. School exams from 13+ GCSE A level and university degrees all successfully tackled, I also teach a few primary school children any level. I aim to make my students love the language, even if they only need me to get a good result in exam, there is much fun to be had in learning a language, even if the grammar has to be studied, fun ways are possible ‘ My students can text le anytime for help, can send their homework to me for checking and improving. I also send links, exercises, songs, tips, short stories… anything they need to progress faster.
