Hello, my name is Ash and I am a freelance musician and music teacher based in York.
Over the past 10 years, I have gained experience teaching, flute, saxophone, clarinet, and music theory to students aged between 5-70. I have taught both privately and for local music services. I teach across a wide range of styles and at all levels. My varied experience across the music industry enables me to create a personal experience based on your goals and interests. I am a firm believer in the importance of playing together as musicians. Therefore I offer a programme of ensembles, workshops and concerts for students to get involved in.
While I believe exams are not an essential part of learning an instrument, I have prepared students for both ABRSM and LCM exams from grade 1-8. I have a 100% pass rate for exams with 75% achieving a merit or higher.
I have taught pupils from a range of backgrounds, including pupils with special needs, providing a personalised approach to help everyone to access music.
Alongside my grade 8 in Alto saxophone, flute, clarinet, and singing I hold a diploma in music theory. I also have experience with music technology and recording techniques to help support your development as a musician whatever your goals
