I am an outstanding practitioner, who strives to ensure students achieve their full potential. With over 20 years’ experience of teaching the English National Curriculum across the Primary age range, I am able to use a range of strategies to challenge and engage students in their learning. I have high expectations, which combined with a calm, kind and caring approach enables me to build positive relationships where students are willing take risks and see mistakes as a learning opportunity. Through effective use of assessment, I identify key strengths and areas of difficulties, ensuring lessons are tailored to meet the needs of individuals. Furthermore, through my experience as a Year 6 teacher and Team Leader, I am able to prepare students for KS2 SATs and the 11+.
I have had a successful career as a class teacher and leader since 1996, where I have worked across the full Primary range in Oldham, Chorley and Rochdale. I have had various positions of responsibility including subject coordinator and Team Leader. In August 2011, my family and I moved to the United Arab Emirates where I worked at The British International School Abu Dhabi, one of 55 premium schools owned by Nord Anglia Education, consisting of over 1300 Primary students. Within my first year I was promoted to Assistant Headteacher responsible for Teaching and Learning. From August 2014 until my return to the UK in July 2018, I held the position of Deputy Head of Primary where I worked with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure all students in the Primary school receive a high quality education.
In addition to my full time teaching role, I have also privately tutored individual and small groups of students aged 5 to 14 in Maths and English as well as teaching adults from Korea and Greece basic English.
