About Naomi MSM

Originally from the Netherlands, I grew up in Cyprus and now reside in London. Fluent in Greek, Dutch, and English, I offer piano and violin lessons in all three languages.

I embarked on my musical journey at the age of 6 when I started playing the piano. Three years later, I picked up the violin, and since then, music has always held a special place in my heart. Dancing and expressing my passion through instruments have been integral to my life.

Seeking new challenges, I decided to pursue ABRSM exams, which provided me with a deep understanding of their approach and grading criteria.

At the age of 17, I made the choice to pursue music professionally. I applied to five universities in the UK, and all of them accepted me. From 2016 to 2019, I studied music at Goldsmiths UOL, during which my knowledge and approach to music evolved significantly.

In 2019, I expanded my horizons by studying psychology with a focus on clinical psychology at the same university. This additional field of study enables me to teach and guide individuals, offering them a unique perspective and approach to learning

In my lessons, I offer instruction in the following:

• Piano: Grades 1 to 8
• Violin: Grades 1 to 7
• Music Theory: Grades 1 to 6
* You also get the opportunity to perform in the End-of-year student recital.  This year it is on 15/Nov/2025.

With years of teaching experience, my journey began in Cyprus, where I worked alongside my own teacher and eventually started teaching solo. Pursuing my music degree in the UK expanded my musical understanding and enriched my approach to various teaching styles.

I also had the opportunity to work with an autistic teenager for a few months, using the Son-Rise Program. I have integrated elements from this program into my music teaching techniques when applicable.

My priority is to ensure that students, especially younger ones, have a fun and productive learning experience. I believe in creating an engaging environment for everyone.

To accommodate those facing financial constraints, I offer upfront payment options for block sessions, providing an opportunity for individuals from all backgrounds to pursue their musical aspirations. Additionally, the pricing may vary depending on the student’s musical ability. For more details, please feel free to contact me.

Find out more about Naomi MSM

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I have been playing the piano since I was 6, the violin since I was 9, and I have been involved in flexibility, dance, and sports since the age of 5. I have extensive experience in these areas.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach.

As far as my music background goes, I am into all kinds of musical genres. I have done exams for all my instruments, studied at an academic level, and I have worked with students of all ages and abilities. I've had some experience in music therapy, but that would be something I'd be happy to look into in further detail. The same goes for my flexibility knowledge. It's been a big passion of mine since an early age, and coming from a medical background, I am up to date with healthy approaches to help individuals improve their mobility and flexibility skills. Together with my psychology background, I try to make the process as fun and rewarding as possible, depending on individual needs and goals.
  • What gives you the motivation and passion to keep going in your chosen field?

My motivation and passion come from combining my knowledge and areas of expertise to be able to help students achieve their fullest potential.
  • Do you have any achievements that you're particularly proud of?

I've participated in dance competitions, passed music exams, graduated in music, been part of a symphony orchestra, and gathered several psychology-related qualifications. These achievements have shaped my skills and allowed me to provide a better learning experience for my students. I am proud of all my accomplishments.
  • How have your achievements and challenges made you a better in your chosen field?

All of my achievements work hand in hand in improving students' learning experience. My approach and unique methodology are shaped and planned according to individuals' needs and requirements. Thus, with all my knowledge and experience, I have been able to achieve beautiful results and work with individuals of all ages, abilities, as well as students with special needs.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

Throughout my musical journey, I encountered several significant challenges. Firstly, limited access to local music teachers during my formative years posed a hurdle to my growth. Additionally, the scarcity of concerts and performance opportunities, both as an audience member and a performer, hindered my progress. Lastly, finding a proficient professional who possesses comprehensive knowledge and expertise across various music genres has consistently proven to be a daunting task.
  • How do you help people stay motivated?

There are lots of approaches I have. My teaching method is very well-rounded and unique, resulting in an active mindset and making the learning process as fun and educational as possible. I help people stay motivated by creating a supportive and encouraging environment and tailoring my teaching methods to their specific needs.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

What makes me a Superprof in music and flexibility is my years of experience, practical knowledge, and the time I have spent gathering degrees and qualifications. It is a never-ending process for me, as I strive to stay up to date with new skills and methods. I aim to keep my approach as fun, informative, and educational as possible, ensuring that my students receive the best possible instruction.
