My teaching method varies on the subject being taught. With regards to History, my approach is based on learning rather than memorising, and applying facts within an essay. Whilst memorising (dates, statistics, etc.) is important, it is more important to understand the question and use these dates and facts as the foundation of your answer, rather than the focal point. Therefore, essay-writing skills will be ingrained in this approach and learning what makes an effective answer, in terms of structure and explanation.
When it comes to languages, the most important aspect to doing well is submerging yourself by watching films and listening to music of that language but also practice. Conversational Spanish is very helpful as it helps you to pick up on vocabulary. The other integral aspect of learning Spanish is learning all of the tenses. As I have tutored in Spanish before, I give weekly grammar tests and tense flashcards which will help to conjugate verbs, in a given tense.
I am an Undergraduate BA History and Spanish student, based in Reading. I have been tutoring for 3 years prior to going on my semester abroad in Madrid. I can offer lessons in both of these academic areas, as well as help with essay-writing and effective revision techniques.
