About Beckie
As a former Head of Department, I have many years of teaching experience both in schools and as a private tutor in mainstream and SEND settings.
My interdisciplinary background as a music teacher, artist and now History PhD student based in a human geography department at Manchester University lends itself to a wide range of creative approaches and supporting skills development, particularly including essay writing.
This PhD involves travelling between where I live in Cornwall, up to Manchester to work in the museum and over to Australia, which is my reason for offering online tuition.

My entire teaching method revolves around getting to know my students well, tailoring the lessons to them and increasing their confidence in themselves. I teach with enjoyment and humour. Students have always engaged well in my lessons because I work to ensure a safe and positive learning environment that builds their wider skills for learning.
I have worked with students of all ages and phases in a number of subjects, therefore it is worth getting in touch to discuss what you have in mind. Whilst I have delivered longer sessions and is fine to do so, I would suggest lesson lengths of around 45 minutes are optimum for concentration, but that depends on each student.
