About Mari
Having just completed my degree at the University of Edinburgh, I would like to use the passion for education I have developed to help my younger peers achieve their goals. I chose to specialise in British colonial history, particularly in Central Africa and India, which I found both immensely interesting and important particularly considering its lack of teaching at school level. Despite this specialisation, however, I am confident in tutoring on most school-level topics and periods as I will take any excuse to research and learn more about the past. Having tutored English as a second language in Athens over a summer period, I know I am a patient, positive tutor. Additionally, through volunteering with a homeless. Aditya, I have a PVG certificate to work with vulnerable people. Having attained 11A*s at GCSE, 3A*s at A-level (in History, English Literature and Fine Art), and a First in my degree, I am a seasoned hard worker. Having spent my childhood enjoying playing both piano and violin to Grade 8-level, I also value the importance of non-academic pursuits and passions for mental health and enjoyment, and would love to help others experience that escapism. Finally, I pride myself on being a friendly, down to earth person who enjoys a giggle alongside every bit of hard work.
