I base any learning activity completely around the child. It is so important for children on the spectrum to not only learn at their own pace but also feel comfortable in the way that they are learning. I think that fully understanding the parents' concerns and listening to what the child's needs are, are two of the most important ways I can assist in helping them reach their full potential. I do not view autism as a disability, just an ability to view the world differently. My tutoring is not limited to academia, it can also stretch to coping on stressful situations and help for the parents in how to manage various situations.
I am a History graduate with a certificate in Autism Awareness. I also have a diploma in child behaviour and extensive voluntary experience in schools as a teaching assistant. I feel that I can offer a unique helping hand when it comes to helping children and young adults with Asperger's Syndrome, as I too was diagnosed as a young adult.
Further cost will be incurred for travel by the tutor. Cancellation of the lesson by parent or pupil with more than 24 hours notice will result in the lesson being rescheduled subject to availability of the tutor. Less notice than 24 hours will result in forfeiting the cost of the lesson.
I am positive and self-motivated, working well as part of a team and on my own as necessary. I am emotionally mature, level-headed and work well under pressure. I have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills relating well to both adults and children. I am creative, have a ‘can do’ attitude and enjoy taking on new challenges.
