About Sarah
I am a military spouse and I have enjoyed living all over the world. Teaching is my passion and I have had the opportunity to teach or tutor everywhere we have lived. I have taught in four different classical schools in America, tutored military kids on two continents, and now teach classes to 72 homeschoolers (not all at the same time!). Teaching gives me the chance to share the things I love--the creativity and beauty of the world around us--with young minds. Tutoring provides a more focused opportunity to bridge the gaps between what a student understands and what they COULD understand, if given the right connections. Our human brains long to soak up details and information at a young age and a teacher or tutor's job is to give it the pathway to do so.

I have been tutoring since I was in college and teaching since I graduated with my Masters. I have worked in a classroom setting but most recently have been teaching classes for homeschoolers, which has really allowed me to approach the process differently. I enjoy the opportunity to tailor lessons to a more one-on-one setting and to use the Socratic method to lead students to a deep understanding of their topic. My background is Classical Education, so I value mastery of a topic and work hard to discover the right questions to allow the student's brain to make connections rather than leading them to rote answers.

Sarah and I worked at a large classical school in Virginia; we even shared an office. Because of that, I developed two major observations about her.
First, she has a passion for her subjects, primarily Literature, Writing, and Latin. I watched her labor over her lessons—she is creative and brilliant, and her classrooms reflected that.
Second, her students love her. They would crowd into her side of our office just to chat, laugh, and tell jokes. All her students showed up for her wedding. The relationships that she builds with her students draw them into her teaching—they are eager to learn from her.
