Methodology

Like a quick screening: is my child dyslexic?
Or an update to check progress?
Got a dyslexia report but not sure what now?
Whatever you need, let me help and guide you.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

SEN to all ages: Maths, English, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

Primary PGCE and Dyslexia Specialist, with a specialist teaching qualification for special needs and AMBDA. On the executive committee of the National Handwriting Association.

- How much do you charge?

Assessments range from £50-£500, depending on how many things you would like me to look at and how detailed a report you would like (e.g. verbal feedback only, a short report or a 50 page patoss report)

I asesss pupils from all over the West Midlands at my warm, comfortable Kenilworth home (complete with cute dog). Chester, London and Kendal, so if you would like me to pop in on the way then let me know.

- When are you available?

Sundays, Inset days and Half-Term holidays are my most popular times, but I am free during weekdays if this is more convenient.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

Possible dyslexics of all ages, including adults

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

Can help to achieve access arrangements for exams (extra time, scribe, reader etc). This is the subject for the new book I am currently writing.

"I have no hesitation in recommending Mrs Swinton. Mrs Swinton was patient and kind, using Robbie's interests to catch his attention. He found each session fun and is now exactly where he should be with his phonic work. Mrs Swinton has taught me more effective ways of helping him at home and we don't get frustrated anymore. I can see a tremendous difference and his confidence has increased hugely. Robbie tells me, 'I have a great time at Mrs Swinton's house. We do lots of fun things!'"

"Megan really struggled with getting her thoughts down on paper. She's a bright child, so this was very frustrating for her. The time Megan has spent with Mrs Swinton has not only helped Megan's literacy skills tremendously but has given Megan her confidence back. Megan was recently short-listed for a writing competition, which is a massive achievement for a child who thought her story writing was 'rubbish'. Best of all, she really enjoys each lesson and looks forward to going every week!"
