About Rhoda
Years ago, I discovered that physical freedom creates the best music, so have you ever wondered how your body affects your sound? Teaching is a joy that stems from my 7 years of experience guiding students who range from 4-year-old beginners to college-bound teenagers. Being a member of the New York Philharmonic allows me to share real orchestral insights during our time together.
My studio in Washington DC focuses on building strong foundations for pupils of all ages. I find immense satisfaction in helping someone master complex double stops or simply improve their daily scales and arpeggios. Seeing the progression from stiff technique to fluid movement brings me consistent happiness.

Using the Rolland approach means emphasizing full body relaxation from the very first moment we pick up the instrument, so does your current posture actually limit your agility? 9 years of teaching have taught me that shifting positions and left hand agility improve when tension disappears.
Intonation naturally gets better when the body remains free. Methodical progress is key.
We prioritize sight reading and classical repertoire to ensure a balanced musical diet. My background in the New York Philharmonic informs how I teach orchestral playing to my advanced students. I truly enjoy witnessing the moment a student finally plays with complete physical ease and total confidence.
