My tutoring approach is structured, strategic, and tailored to each student’s individual goals. Having achieved an 86 final mark in HSC English Advanced (88 external), I understand what HSC markers look for and how to maximise results under exam conditions. I focus not only on strong analysis, but also on structure, clarity, and exam technique, because sophisticated ideas must be expressed clearly to achieve high band results.
In lessons, I use a step-by-step methodology. This includes breaking down rubric language and syllabus expectations, teaching clear essay frameworks for Modules A, B and C, developing strong thesis statements and topic sentences, strengthening textual analysis and integrating quotes effectively, and practising timed responses to improve speed and clarity. For Module C, I also focus on refining creative writing techniques and crafting purposeful, controlled narratives. Having scored 88 in my external HSC English Advanced exam, I provide students with my exact essays as high-quality exemplars. These are the essays I wrote under exam conditions, not generic samples, which allows students to see the precise level of structure, clarity, and sophistication required to achieve strong results.
A key part of my tutoring is detailed, ongoing feedback. Students are welcome to send me their essays online at any time, and I provide structured marking with clear annotations, band-level feedback, and specific, practical steps for improvement. This ensures consistent progress between lessons and allows students to continually refine their writing.
A typical lesson runs for 60 to 90 minutes. Sessions usually involve reviewing previously marked work, targeting specific areas of improvement, guided writing practice, and exam-style questions or structured essay planning. Each lesson is personalised based on the student’s current performance and goals.
My lessons are designed for Years 11 and 12 students studying HSC English Advanced. Whether a student is working towards a solid Band 5 or aiming for a Band 6, I adapt my approach to suit their level and build both confidence and academic precision.
Currently studying Medical Science at UTS, I bring strong analytical skills, discipline, and clear communication to every session. My aim is not just to improve marks, but to teach students how to think critically, write independently, and perform confidently under exam pressure.
