About Steven
I have over 20 years experience as an English teacher.
I have been a Head of English, Assistant Head in charge of curriculum and I am now a Lead Practitioner.
I am an examiner for AQA ( and have been an Examiner for EDUQAS also)
I hold a Two : One Degree in English and History from the University of Liverpool as well as a Masters Degree in English Literature from The Open University
Teaching has been both my profession and my passion and I believe all students have the opportunity to achieve well in English.

I am a great believer in ensuring tutoring sessions are tailored to the individual needs of the student. For that reason, I don't simply offer 'off the shelf' lesson plans.
One hour sessions are shaped around current teaching and any upcoming assessment / examinations a student may be facing in school. In my view , this allows the tutoring sessions to consolidate and extend learning and, most importantly, allow students to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to achieve the highest grades they can.
I have been an examiner for both GCSE and A level English, and therefore possess a thorough knowledge of the response requirements and sessions will also focus on these structures.
